Brave women. Authentic choices. High-stakes tension.

My first book is set in Butte, Montana. I fell in love with the grittiness of the blue-collar loyalty set against the stunning backdrop of the Rocky Mountains. My story inspiration came from visiting the town and feeling the rich history in my blood. I couldn’t stop wondering about the old buildings and the secrets they must hold. I imagined the unglamorous miners’ lives and the unseen women who made it possible.

From there, and I conjured up our protagonist, Hannah, and her ghost roommate and former prostitute, Cookie. Together, they blend the current times with the early 1900s and teach each other how to know what’s important enough to risk their livelihood, their identity, and their happiness for.

Book cover with the title 'Talking Walls' at the top, a background image of a doorway or window, and the text 'Coming Soon Stay Tuned' in large red font in the center, and the author's name 'by Kathi Jenkins' at the bottom.

Kind Words From Early Readers

  • An old brick wall with faded white painted signs for restaurants, including 'The Lincoln Hotel,' 'Batte,' and 'Montana.'

“Such relatable characters, I felt every emotion along with Hannah!”

  • A winding two-lane road with yellow lines, surrounded by desert landscape with sparse vegetation, leading towards snow-capped mountains under a partly cloudy sky.

    “Great pacing and suspense.”

  • Aerial view of a neighborhood with numerous houses, trees, and rooftops covered in snow. The scene appears to be in a cold climate during winter.

“Hannah made such a lovely transformation!”
